Safe Passage (2025) is a watercolor and gouache work featuring a Rosette Spoonbill and a European Starling. Drawing on the artist’s own experiences, it explores the tension between safety and freedom. The birds face the light while a shadowy, ferryman-like figure offers gifts or passage toward an unknown elsewhere. Its ambiguous intentions leave the narrative suspended between protection, risk, and the desire for freedom.
